Farmers who are resident of Barangay Lapi, Peñablanca, Cagayan will no longer have to bear with a bumpy gravel road just to transport their crops to the main markets.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the concreting of a 300-meter farm-to-market road that is expected to benefit more than a hundred farmers who own at least 40 hectares of corn and rice fields in the said barangay.

An allocation of P2 million was spent to pave the road which was funded under the convergence program of the DPWH and Department of Agriculture.

“This project is expected to strengthen the livelihood and ease the daily living of the people in rural areas, in this case, Barangay Lapi which is two hours away from the commercial center of Peñablanca, said District Engineer Danilo U. Tabilas of DPWH Cagayan District Engineering Office.

“Farm-to-market roads are essential in the development of this barangay as well as the whole town of Peñablanca,” added DE Tabilas.
