
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office V readied roads in Bicol region in preparation for the 2017 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit.
In a meeting with District Engineers and other key officials in the Regional Office, Director Danilo E. Versola ordered the checking and cleaning of roads, especially along Legazpi City Airport leading to Misibis Bay Resort in Albay as the province was picked as one of the venues for the series of conferences that will be held in the country.
“Be sure that the traveling ASEAN delegates are provided with clean and safe road from the start to the end of their stay in Bicol,” said RD Versola.
Maintenance Engineers from the Regional and District Engineering Offices were deployed to check and fix damaged informative, directional and warning signs installed in the conspicuous places of the highway, as well as the thermoplastic pavement markings.
RD Versola also ordered the prepositioning of tiptop construction equipment and maintenance crews on road sections that are prone to erosions, slides and flooding.
Bicol Region has amazing tourist destinations and packaging these with reliable infrastructure facilities will definitely attract domestic and foreign visitors in the region.
“DPWH will do its best to provide ASEAN guests with convenient road travel. We give them good impression and they will surely be carriers of good news for Bicol,” RD Versola added.
