
Motorists are advised of the temporary closure of Jugaban Bridge along Palo-Carigara-Ormoc Road in Brgy. Brgy. Jugaban, Carigara, Leyte due to bridge widening activities.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte Second District Engineering Office (L2DEO) advises all vehicles from Tacloban to Ormoc and vice versa to utilize alternate route at Enage Street, Barangay Jugaban to Real Street., then Esperanza Street to the national highway of Carigara, Leyte.
DPWH L2DEO has installed appropriate directional and traffic signs to inform motorists about the bridge closure.
The local government unit (LGU), Philippine National Police (PNP), Barangay Officials of Carigara were also advised to provide assistance in managing rerouted traffic.
DPWH is implementing a P4 million widening project on the 12.7-meter bridge to complement the road widening also being undertaken by the DPWH all over the area.
“The Jugaban Bridge has been a two-lane bridge for many years now and is in need of repair. Contractors are now directed to expedite works to facilitate timely completion of the project in accordance with the plans and specifications,” said DPWH L2DEO District Engineer Carlos G. Veloso.
