DPWH clearing landslide along Calbayog-Allen Road

Thursday, July 27, 2017
The Department of Public Works (DPWH) is set to re-open this week the landslide-stricken Calbayog-Allen Road in Barangay Caglanipao Sur, Tinambacan District, Calbayog City, Samar.
District Engineer Alvin A. Ignacio of DPWH Samar First District Engineering Office said the road which was closed since Sunday, July 23, 2017 due to continuous heavy rains, is currently one-lane passable while the other lane of the road is still covered with debris of dirt and the mountainous side is still unstable.
“Clearing operations are being undertaken in the vicinity since Monday. We have also installed barricades, warning signs and traffic advisory to warn the public of the condition of the road,” said District Engineer Ignacio.
Assisting DPWH Samar First DEO in the area is DPWH Northern Samar First DEO, deploying government and privately-owned dump truck, backhoe, and other heavy equipment.
Vehicles are now allowed to pass through the road every one (1) hour to ensure continuity of clearing operation while not hampering activities of road users.
However, the public is warned of the danger of falling rocks and soil while traversing the landslide-prone area.
