The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) advises the public to anticipate heavy traffic build-up at Villamor Airbase Section along Sales Road, Pasay City due to connection works for the on-going NAIA Expressway Project-Phase II.
Starting this Saturday, February 13, 2016, civil works contractor DMCI will commence test pitting activities from Piers 1 to 18 to connect NAIA Expressway Phase II project with the existing Phase I.
DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson advises the public especially those going to the airport terminals to plan their trips and be aware of the traffic conditions and alternative routes to take as possible contingencies.
A traffic management plan which includes the use of 10th Street and 14th Street in Pasay City as alternate routes of motorists in going to Sales Interchange from Andrews Avenue was approved by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
Also, DPWH together with the concessionaire San Miguel Corporation (SMC) through its subsidiary Vertex Tollways Development and contractor DMCI have also requested the assistance of the MMDA, Skyway O & M Corporation, Pasay Traffic Bureau, Barangay 183 Pasay, and Villamor Airbase to help manage traffic especially at the rotunda of Domestic Road corner Andrews Avenue.
The P15.86-Billion NAIA Expressway project which is under the private sector financing as part of President Aquino administration’s Public-Private Partnership Program is a 4-lane 7.15-kilometer elevated expressway that aims to provide easy access to and from the three NAIA terminals and link the Skyway and the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (Cavitex).
The project will also interconnect the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX)-Skyway to the Cavitex, Macapagal Boulevard, and the Entertainment City of state-run Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
