DPWH psychosocial support initiative aids employees amid COVID-19

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) commits to caring for its employees’ mental health and psychological well-being through its “We COPE As One” psychosocial support initiative amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Secretary Mark A. Villar assured that employees from DPWH Central Office, Regional Offices, and District Engineering Offices shall be offered support mechanism through the Department’s supervisors – from section chiefs and above.

Villar conducts final inspection of TPLEX final section up to Rosario, La Union

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar on Friday, July 3, 2020 led the final inspection before the opening of the four-lane Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) Pozorrubio, Pangasinan to Rosario, La Union section.

Secretary Villar, together with other DPWH officials and concessionare Private Infra Development Corporation (PDIC) drove the entire 88.85-kilometer stretch of the expressway from Tarlac City to check readiness for opening of the final section.

DPWH assists Cebu City Government vs COVID-19

A total of 200 wooden beds fabricated by workers of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are now being used by COVID-19 patients in Cebu City.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the wooden beds were fabricated by DPWH Cebu City District Engineering Office following a meeting by District Engineer Florida Nuñez with the officials of Cebu City local government who expressed their need for beds in quarantine facilities.

DPWH to turn-over off-site dormitories for health workers to Quezon City Government on July 6

Four (4) ‘We Heal As One’ off-site dormitories purpose-built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for hospital workers will be turned-over on Monday, July 6 to the Quezon City government.

“With these facilities at Quezon Memorial Circle, our modern-day heroes will have a safer and more comfortable space to rest”, said Secretary Mark A. Villar.

Villar: New NLEX Tambobong Interchange opens July 2

Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced that the new NLEX Tambobong Interchange, in Bocaue, Bulacan is set to fully open this Thursday, July 2.

A partnership between the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and NLEX Corporation, the new interchange will offer another alternative for commuters at Bocaue Interchange bound for Sta. Maria, Norzagaray, Angat, and Pandi in eastern Bulacan.

DPWH ZN 2nd DEO Provides Assistance for the Improvement of Labason Ligtas COVID Center for Close Contacts and Repatriates

The Department of Public Works and Highways Zamboanga del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office constructed isolation room dividers and temporary disinfection booth with bathroom to enhance the community isolation facility in Labason. In addition, a tent was also built outside the building. Labason Municipal Health Officer Dra. Fe Claire T. Buctuan was very grateful to the support shown by DPWH by responding immediately to her request in providing the necessary funding, resources and manpower for the improvement of the health facility.

Philippine National Red Cross building converted to Covid-19 testing laboratory

In line with the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the DPWH Regional Office IX and Zamboanga City District Engineering Office completed the conversion of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Building to COVID-19 Testing Laboratory. The facility will increase the capacity of the Department of Health (DOH) and Local Government Unit in treating COVID-19 patients in Zamboanga Peninsula and the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

Four (4) ZamPen Evacuation Centers used as Covid-19 health facilities

The Evacuation Centers in Barangay Turno, Dipolog City and Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, Barangay Balugo, Zamboanga Sibugay and Barangay Cabatangan in Zamboanga City are being used as health/quarantine facilities during the Covid-19 pandemic. The centers can accommodate a total of 120 persons under investigation (PUI) and persons under monitoring (PUM). DPWH-built structures were converted into health facilities to augment the shortage in hospitals catering to coronavirus patients.
