DPWH bids out 15 barangay road projects in Leyte

The Department of Public Works and Highways field office here will kick off construction of 15 barangay road projects funded under the General Appropriation Fund (GAA) of 2019.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed the budget on April 15 with some vetoed items including the P75 billion insertions applied by congressmen covering public works projects.

According to Gerald Pacanan, DPWH Leyte 2 head engineer, implementation of the 2019 projects was affected by the delayed approval of the annual budget.

Rehabilitation of Access Road leading to Naval Port completed

An access road leading to Naval seaport has been improved by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO).

From a bumpy and narrow existing concrete road, travellers along Vicentillo Extension to Naval port is experiencing a great difference of travel with the completion of DPWH-Biliran DEO access road project.

Mr. David Julian Culibra, who frequently pass along this road section in going home said that he now enjoys riding his motorcycle along this road.

Leyte 4th DEO, receives its 2-star rating Certification for Materials Testing Laboratoy

Three (3) months after the assessment/evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Research and Standards (BRS) from DPWH – Central Office for the upgrading of category from 1-star to 2-star rating of Leyte 4th District Office Materials Testing Laboratory finally, the DEO had received its Certificate as 2- Star Materials Testing Laboratoy.

Construction of Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project, on-going

It is 21.339% work accomplishment for the ILSUNG CONSTRUCTION CO. LTD. in their on-going construction of the Samar Pacific Coastal Road (SPCR) Project located in Brgy. Simora, Palapag, second district of Northern Samar.

In its Monthly Progress Report No. 13 covering the period April 26, 2019 to May 25, 2019, the project has actual cumulative accomplishment of 21.339% stating though that it is behind schedule by (-) 3.423% compared to the scheduled cumulative accomplishment of 24.762%.

NSSDEO enforces RROW policy anew

Amid reports of encroachment from both private and public entities, the DPWH Northern Samar 2nd District Engineering Office tightens-up its enforcement of the Road-Right-of-Way (RROW) policy along its national roadways.

In compliance to Department Order No. 73 series of 2014 and Revised Philippine Highway Act, Maintenance Section Chief Engineer Francisco Tañala and his Maintenance Point Persons (MPPs) said that they had been sending notices to identified encroachers found to have constructed illegal structures within the RROW of national roads.

Clearing works intensifed in roads affected by Typhoon Tisoy

Clearing operations of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are being done vigorously for the nine (9) remaining national roads in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Region 2, and Region 5 that were impassable to all types of vehicles following the onslaught of Typhoon Tisoy.

Per monitoring report dated Dec. 10, 2019 of the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, 48 of 57 road sections previously affected by the recent typhoon and continuous rain have been cleared and are now passable to all types of vehicles.
