The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed preventive maintenance works on the crucial sections of the Davao-Cotabato Road, a national road connecting Davao and Soccsksargen regions.

The newly asphalted 6.56-lane kilometer road section beginning in Barangay Sinawilan, municipality of Matanao, to the boundary of Barangay Mabuhay, municipality of Bansalan, Davao del Sur, is a vital countermeasure in minimizing road hazards and optimizing road safety for motorists and daily commuters traversing the area.

According to DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon, in a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, the preventive maintenance works of the Davao-Cotabato Road aims at maintaining good road condition and prolong the service life of the road infrastructure that primarily supports economic growth and development in Davao and Soccsksargen.

“The asphalt overlaying project of the Davao-Cotabato Road is among our projects under the “Build Better More” program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., focused on reinforcing road infrastructure while improving the transportation networks across the country,” added Director Cordon.

Implemented by DPWH Davao Del Sur District Engineering Office, the asphalt overlaying project amounting to P98 Million is funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act.
