Tourists and locals can expect safer travels as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undertakes the rehabilitation and improvement of an access road in Barangay Kanao-Kanao, Municipality of Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.
Based on a report submitted by the DPWH Regional Office 10, the on-going ₱125-million, four-lane access road project measures a total of 1.40 kilometers, connecting the Municipalities of Bonifacio and Don Victoriano.
Divided into three (3) sections, rehabilitation works are being done at 76.40-meter Section 1 and 402.37-meter Section 2, while Section 3 with a length of 928.28 meters undergoes road widening.
Situated in a landslide-prone area, the project’s scope of works also include the construction of retaining walls, line canals, and stone masonry.
The road has been previously susceptible to slips and slope collapse, endangering locals in the conduct of their daily activities and increasing transportation costs for farmers in harvesting and delivering their products to bigger markets in the city.
The project, which is currently 93 percent completed, is expected to ensure safer and shorter travel, cheaper delivery costs of agricultural products, and ease of access to basic social and health services.
