The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is undertaking a major road widening project along the Nueva Vizcaya-Benguet Road to accommodate volumes of vehicle and enhance motorists' safety in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya.
The road network in Aritao is a vital corridor, serving as a gateway to Cagayan Valley Region and utilize by tens of thousands of motorists daily.
Recognizing the road’s importance, the DPWH has embarked on the ambitious project to upgrade a 4.8-lane kilometer section along the Nueva Vizcaya-Benguet Road with a width of 3.05 meters and a thickness of 0.28 meters.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region 2 Director Reynaldo C. Alconcel, said that the road widening project is now 85.50 percent finished and is on track for its targeted completion this September.
The project involves installing a 43-meter-long, 910-millimeter-diameter reinforced concrete pipe culvert (RCPC), 127 cubic meters of grouted riprap, 10,830.49 cubic meters of stone masonry slope protection, 888.50 linear meters of lined canal, and 7,401.188 square meters of single crib wall.
“When completed, the improvements are expected to significantly enhance the safety and efficiency of transportation in the area, facilitating faster movement of goods and essential needs and contributing to the overall development of Aritao and its surrounding areas,” said Secretary Bonoan.
