Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Roger G. Mercado personally inspected Friday, January 21, 2022 the construction of flyover along Friendship Circumferential Road in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Secretary Mercado witnessed the actual progress of the construction of Cutcut Flyover, a four (4) – lane viaduct project implemented by Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office.
The DPWH Chief has instructed the inclusion in the proposed 2023 budget the necessary funding allocation in order to complete the project.
Decisions are best made if you really get to know and feel the situation in the field, said Secretary Mercado.
According to Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut, the construction of 700 meters flyover including approaches will solve the bottleneck at the intersection of Porac-Angeles Road and Friendship Highway.
In his briefing, Regional Director Roseller A. Tolentino said that the flyover project will reduce to 20 minutes travel time from Brgy. Telabastagan, San Fernando City to Clarkfield, Pampanga via Friendship Highway.
Secretary Mercado along with Senior Undersecretary Yabut; Undersecretaries Roberto R. Bernardo, Eugenio R. Pipo Jr., and Maximo L. Carvajal; and Assistant Secretaries Antonio V. Molano Jr. and Wilfredo S. Mallari also visited Brgy. Sindalan, San Fernando City, home of the DPWH Regional Office 3 - Central Luzon covering the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bataan and Zambales.
He was welcomed by Regional Director Tolentino, Asst. Regional Director Denise Maria M. Ayag, the Region 3 District Engineers, and Regional employees.
The Secretary checked the on-going DPWH Region 3 Alternate Site Building within the DPWH Regional Office compound.
Director Tolentino reported that the six-storey modern office building project will serve as the new headquarters of the DPWH Regional Office and possible extension office and command center of the DPWH Central Office in the event of a disaster.
The building has a total floor area of 27,600 square meters that can accommodate the specific office space requirements of Region 3 officials and employees including venue for learning and development programs.
Phase 1 amounting to ₱300 Million from the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA) was completed on January 5, 2022 while Phase 2 costing ₱500 Million under 2021 GAA is at 20 percent completion.
