Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that DPWH disaster risk reduction management teams have been activated in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rain brought by southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Fabian.

Maintenance crew and equipment were deployed to conduct immediate clearing operation on national roads affected by intense rain, added Secretary Villar.

As of 8:00 PM Thursday, July 22, 2021, DPWH-Bureau of Maintenance has reported a total of two (2) national road closures due to the weather disturbance.

The Abra - Kalinga Road, K0489+900, Gacab, Malibcong, Abra is not passable due to collapsed soil and rock. Motorists may take the Abra - Ilocos Sur Road - McArthur Highway - Maharlika Highway as alternate route.

On-going efforts to clear the affected road section is hampered by the adverse weather condition and unstable slope condition.

In Mindoro Occidental, DPWH Regional Office 4B has dispatched equipment and maintenance crew for immediate action on the washed out approaches of the detour bridge for the Araang Bridge along Araang Section of Mindoro West Coastal Road, K0379+100.
