Congress on its Third and final reading recently approved three local bills sponsored by Congressman Oscar “Richard” Garin, Jr. converting local roads into a national road.
The three (3) local roads are Tubungan-San Remegio Road, Igbaras- San Remegio Road and Oton Alegre-Villa Beach Road.
Tubungan-San Remegio and Igbaras-San Remegio roads adjoin the Leon-San Remegio Road which was conceptualized as shorter route from the Province of Iloilo to the Province of Antique. The barangays of both municipalities of Tubungan and Igbaras possess immense production potential and produce sizable quantities of agricultural products and farm animals.
Oton Alegre- Villa Beach Provincial Road is a 2.895 km. road section which adjoin the town proper of Oton to Brgy. Sto.Niño, Arevalo District in Iloilo City. It is a vital road section as it is the only viable alternative route from all seven municipalities in the southern part of Iloilo and Province of Antique to Iloilo City.
Once converted into a national road, these local roads will reach its full potential, creating shorter route thereby achieving economic prosperity in both provinces.
