Residents living in the low-lying areas of Barangay San Roque, San Mateo, Isabela are now protected from flashfloods, as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed its Magat River Flood Control Project.

In her report to Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 2 Director Loreta M. Malaluan said that the project with the total amount of P122-million is designed to minimize the adverse effects of water overflow during heavy rains that may destroy farmlands which is the main source of income of the people living in the area.

The flood control structure started on June and completed December 2019 is an 840-lineal meter rubble concrete and revetment on steel sheet piles.

The structure is built-in with hexapods to help strengthen and maintain the durability and sturdiness along Magat River in San Mateo, Isabela.
