Faster travel and scenic views of the forest will soon be experienced by motorists in Region 10 as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undertakes the construction of Sta. Felomina-Bonbonon-Digkilaan-Rogongon Road in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.

According to DPWH-Region 10 Director Zenaida Tan, the 60.4-kilometer road project with budget requirement amounting to P394.76-million on a multi-year program will serve as a new diversion road in the province that will traverse agricultural lands within mountainous terrains of Iligan City.

DPWH has so far completed the concreting of 1.74 kilometers of the diversion road at the Indulang section in the municipality of Talakag, Province of Bukidnon.

“This big-ticket project will serve as a shorter route between Iligan City and Talakag bypassing the usual route which passes through Cagayan de Oro City,” said Tan.

Once completed, the entire Sta. Felomina-Bonbonon-Digkilaan-Rogongon Road will cut travel time from Iligan to Bukidnon and vice versa from three (3) hours and 30 minutes to one (1) hour and 30 minutes.

“We intend to make this road open even during extreme weather conditions so that mobility will not be affected,” Tan added.

This road section in Iligan City is part of the Mindanao East-West Lateral Road that involves opening and concreting of roads with cross drainage, safety road improvements, and lined canal.
