The completion of 362.20-lineal meter Solong Bridge in Sibalom, province of Antique is now on-going and undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office VI.
According to Assistant District Engineer Edgardo G. Garcia of DPWH Antique District Engineering Office (DEO), the P 91-Million project started construction in April and is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year.
The project involves the construction of pile cap, secondary columns, four spans spans coping beam deck slab and approach slab; and construction of 6.70-meter wide access roads on both ends of the bridge.
Also included in the project are concrete slope protection, embankment, grouted riprap and thermoplastic pavement markings.
Solong Bridge is the premier link of Sibalom town proper to its approximately 15 barangays at the northern part as well as 3 barangays in the towns of Patnongon and San Remigio, hence greatly affects their economic activities.
Said bridge project, once completed, is expected to increase farm ventures for the productivity and profitability of upland farmer.
The bridge will also provide access to basic services as well as serve as an effective and efficient all-weather transportation system.
