The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will soon fully open to motorists the newly-completed Tumagbok Bridge along Iloilo-Antique Road in Barangay Igtuba, Miagao town, Iloilo.
DPWH Region VI Director Wenceslao M. Leaño, Jr. said the widening and strengthening of Tumagbok Bridge which received an allocation of P200 million is now substantially completed with only remaining paving works on its approaches.
“We are fast-tracking the concreting of the remaining two (2) lanes of approaches on both sides so we can fully open the bridge. In the meantime, motorists can use the two inner lanes of the bridge where approaches are already concreted,” said Leaño
Director Leaño noted that original design of the bridge will be restored by reinstalling its steel railings added with concrete railings for the pedestrian.
“Upon completion, the new Tumagbok Bridge will complement the widening of Iloilo-Antique Road from two (2) to four (4) lanes. Iloilo-Antique Road serves as a main highway of motorists from Iloilo City heading to the southern part of Iloilo and the province of Antique, vice versa,” added Leaño.
The widened bridge will directly benefit the town of Miagao through improved traffic condition, considering that it is situated near the town proper and education facilities.
