The road concreting project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Barangay Bi-ao, Municipality of Binalbagan is seen to entice more tourists to visit Binadlan Falls in the Province of Negros Occidental once completed.
According to District Engineer Randolfo A. Melosantos of DPWH Negros Occidental Second District Engineering Office (DEO), the road improvement project of about 3.75-kilometer access road received an initial allocation of P100 million this year under Department of Tourism (DOT)-DPWH Tourism Road Infrastructure Program.
DPWH has started the first phase of road concreting leading to Binadlan Falls last July and is expected for completion by May 2019 if given favorable weather condition.
For the tourism road’s Phase II, Engr Melosantos said that an allocation of P50 million will be included in the FY 2019 Infra Program of the District.
“Once paved, this local road will also promote growth for the rural communities directly benefiting residents of Barangay Bi-ao and its neighboring barangays with better access to markets, schools and healthcare,” said DE Melosantos.
