The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is building roads leading to magnificent places that undeniably attracted many tourists in Iloilo Province.
In a report, DPWH Iloilo Fourth District Engineer Edmund V. Opinion said that works are on-going for the construction of access road including bridges that will sustain growth of tourism to popular waterfalls in Barangay Bucari and Barangay Camandag located at the town of Leon, Iloilo.
The road projects amounting P152.3 million involve the concreting of 2.88 kilometers access road and 146.15-lineal meter bridge approach with 280.0-millimeter-thick, 6.70-meter-wide portland concrete cement pavement.
It also covers the concreting of 1.281-kilometer access road leading to breathtaking majestic view of Kataw Falls and concreting of 137.2-lineal meter access road leading to the refreshing Imoy Falls.
Other than the concreting of access roads, DPWH will also build two (2) 27.0-lineal meter foot bridges on spread footing; two (2) 26.0-meter flat slab bridges on spread footing; 37.0-lineal meter hanging foot bridge and 3-meter by 3-meter triple barrel box culvert with painted steel railings.
The road project also includes construction of excavation, embankment, reinforced pipe culvert, masonry line ditch, slope protection, chevron signs, kilometer post, metal guardrails and pavement markings.
Public toilet facilities will also be constructed for the sanitation requirement of thousands of tourist visitors at the natural crystal clear waterfalls of Imoy and Kataw every year.
When completed, the project will not only boost tourism in the town but will also help in the economic development in the area through faster delivery of goods and services.
