Newly-Paved Sagada Road to Lure More Tourists in Cordillera

smoother travel experience going to Mt. Province’s most visited destinations can be expected by travelers with the completion of a road improvement project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Sagada and Bontoc.

Concreted and widened are a total of 4.1 kilometers of Balili-Suyo-Sagada Road that leads to famous Sagada caves, burial caves, museums, ancient villages, rice terraces, waterfalls and other tourist destinations in Mt. Province where nature and culture lovers can explore and appreciate.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is giving a new life to a 260-year old abandoned mansion that once served as the provincial seat of government of Lingayen, Pangasinan during Spanish occupation in the country.

“What was long been abandoned and devastated by World War II and typhoon “Cosme” in 2008 will soon be home of artifacts with significance to Pangasinan’s rich history and cultural heritages,” said DPWH Region 1 Director Danilo E. Dequito, pertaining to the historical Casa Real.

DPWH-Western Visayas Gets Additional Equipment for Disaster Response Operations

Several homeowners, business operators and their representatives along General Luna Street sat for a dialogue with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), the Iloilo City Engineering Office and the Iloilo-Batiano River Development Council (IBRDC) at the Iloilo City Hall Multi-Purpose Hall, November 8, 2016 concerning the implementation of the proposed Esplanade 4 and 6.

DPWH-Western Visayas Gets Additional Equipment for Disaster Response Operations

Twelve (12) new equipment to be used for disaster response activities in Western Visayas were recently turned over to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 6 by DPWH Bureau of Equipment.

The new equipment transferred to the custody of the DPWH Region 6 Equipment Management Division headed by its chief, Engr. Ronnie C. Catuiran, are the following: one (1) unit of road milling machine with accessories; five (5) units of dump truck; four (4) units chain saw; one (1) unit power light tower with generator; and one (1) unit amphibious.

COSH Training Wrapped

The closing for the last batch of the Construction Safety and Health (COSH) Training in the Regional Office X was hgeld last November 11, 2016.

A total of 48 DPWH personnel and 5 private contractors attended the Training and conducted a site inspection at the ongoing Balulang-Macasandig Bridge and Approaches on the last day where they were divided into groups and given an hour to check the equipment, practices and workers on site.

DPWH-XI to Construct 10 Bypass Roads in Davao City

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 11 will construct ten (10) bypass roads that are intended to ease heavy traffic now being experienced in Davao City.

According to Dean I. Ortiz, DPWH-XI Regional Public Affairs and Information Officer, these priority projects in Davao for 2017 are products of close coordination between the local government unit (LGU) and the DPWH.
