DPWH Begins Construction of By-Pass Road Leading to Calbayog’s Gateway

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has commenced the first phase of civil works for a new bypass road leading to Calbayog Airport, starting at Barangay Trinidad connecting the diversion road in Barangay Cagsalaosao, Calbayog City, Samar.

Based on a report submitted by DPWH Region 8 Director Allan S. Borromeo, Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan said that Phase 1 involves the construction of a two-lane, 6.7-meter wide paved road spanning a total of 259.5 meters, 719.9-meter long riprap, and the installation of 27 solar LED lights, costing P31.76-million.

3 Roads Remain Closed due to ‘Florita’

As of 6:00 am Friday, August 25, 2022, three (3) national road sections in the Cordillera Administrative Region and Region 2 are still closed to traffic due to road cut, soil collapse, flooding, and for safety reasons, brought about by Severe Tropical Storm ‘Florita’ .

According to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, impassable roads include Kennon Road which is closed for safety reasons. Motorists bound to Baguio City may take Marcos Highway, Baguio - Bauang Road, or Asin - Nangalisan - San Pascual Road as alternate routes.

Improved Local Roads Lead to Better Connectivity in Dingalan, Aurora

The completed three (3) road improvement projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Dingalan, Aurora have facilitated better mobility for residents and connectivity to other areas.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing reports from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, identified the Barangays Matawe, Paltic, and Tanawan as the recipients of the road projects that cost P24.62 million to complete.
