The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the final phase of construction works on the Ibajay Bypass Road Widening Project to hasten mobility between municipalities in the province of Aklan.
According to a report to Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan by DPWH Aklan District Engineering Office, the project involved widening of the 1.69-kilometer section of Ibajay Bypass Road as well as the installation of 165 units of LED solar streetlights.
Previously, DPWH completed upgrading 1.46 kilometers of the bypass road under the 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and 2.34 kilometers under GAA 2020.
With the newly-widened section, the 5.49-kilometer road now better decongests the stream of vehicles along the national highway to ensure smooth commuter traffic as it serves as an alternate route going to and from the town of Kalibo.
Widening of the Ibajay Bypass Road was undertaken in the amount of P38.3 million from the 2021 GAA.
