Residents of Sitio Bato, Barangay Dansolihon in Cagayan de Oro City are now enjoying the benefits of a farm-to-market road (FMR) project completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to support the agricultural businesses in the region.
In a report submitted by Regional Director Zenaida T. Tan, DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the project was completed using the total allocated budget of P10 million, in convergence with the Department of Agriculture (DA).
The Dansolihon FMR project involves the construction of a 2-lane concrete road measuring 419.70 meters, with stone masonry, cross drainage, and a grouted riprap lined canal.
“With this safer, easier, and seamless road network, locals and tourists may visit flourishing tourist spots such as the Dansoliwood Café, save transport costs when delivering agricultural products, and get faster access to basic goods and services,” said Secretary Mercado.
The farm-to-market road traverses through a mountainous terrain, making planting agricultural products such as crops, banana, marang, and cotton fruit the main source of living for residents.
