JR Borja Bridge Formally Opens

The 6th bridge in Cagayan de Oro linking the busy streets of Max Suniel and JR Borja, Burgos was formally opened to vehicular traffic on February 6, 2015.

Inaugural ceremony for the JR Borja Bridge and Approaches started with the unveiling of the project marker followed by the ribbon cutting and ceremonial drive thru. The bridge was also blessed by Archbishop Antonio J. Ledesma and Rev. Fr. Perseus P. Cabunoc.

The opening of the longest Spanish-Assisted Bridge in the Philippines with a total length of 307.79 linear meters with 120 linear meters concrete-paved approaches was participated by the DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson and the Supplier of Bridging Materials from Spain – Centunion Delegation headed by the President Mr. Javier Grahe.

Others who attended the ceremonial opening includes DPWH-X Regional Director Evelyn T. Barroso, Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno, Cagayan de Oro 1st District Representative Rolando Uy, Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Representative Rufus Rodriguez, Mr. Johnny Uy of contractor UKC Builders and other local officials

The bridge was funded by the Government of the Philippines for Civil works worth Php179,582,892.00 and its Steel Bridging Materials funded by the Spanish Government worth Php92,191,881.90.

After the ceremony, Secretary Singson had a meeting with the DPWH Region 10 officials including District Engineers and Division Chiefs .
