The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has provided better accessibility among Iloilo towns after the widening of Lictinon Bridge along the Barotac Viejo-San Rafael Road in Iloilo.
Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the widened 26-linear-meter Lictinon complements the existing 4-lane Barotac Viejo-San Rafael Road and now caters more motorists allowing for a better land travel within San Rafael and nearby towns.
Citing a report from DPWH Iloilo 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO), Secretary Villar added that the bridge made of pre-stressed concrete girder has now a total area of 190 square-meters and 159 linear-meters approaches.
The Iloilo towns of Barotac Viejo and San Rafael are linked through the Barotac Viejo-San Rafael Road where Lictinon Bridge is located. This stretch of road meets the Passi-San Rafael-Lemery-Sara Road in San Rafael.
The improvements on the Lictinon Bridge also included the construction of a 268.61-cubic-meter grouted riprap to act as a slope protection structure, ensuring safer travel along the road section.
