The Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) has completed a road slope protection structure along section of Cabungon-Tabunok-Consuguera Road in Villaba town, Leyte province.
According to Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno, the newly-completed project involves the construction of a 1,760-square meter slope protection with a total cost of P47-million.
“The slope will help avoid the abrupt collapse of weakened slopes along the road that could be brought by heavy rainfall and natural ground movement. This will prevent future landslides and road closures, ” said Bueno.
Concrete barriers are also built on top of the slope protection to prevent vehicles from falling into deep ravines along sharply curved sections of the road.
