
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Leyte 4th District Engineering Office (DEO), headed by District Engineer Lino Francisco C. Gonzalez and Assistant District Engineer Irwin L. Antonio gave backpacks and school materials to Kindergarten and Grade 1 pupils in Camp Downes Elementary School, Ormoc City on June 14, Friday.
This is the first time Leyte 4th DEO conducted such outreach program in coordination with District Engineers League of The Philippines, Inc. (DELP) which conducts a nationwide Balik Skwela Project that aims to improve the school needs of incoming elementary pupils.
The activity was also graced by Department of Education (DepEd) - Ormoc Division Superintendent Manuel P. Albaño, who has been always supportive in all programs and activities conducted by the Leyte 4th DEO within the schools in Ormoc City.
DE Gonzalez reiterated to the pupils the importance of education and how it can improve their lives in the future. “It’s very heart-warming to see the smiles of these children, as well as their parents while receiving the school supplies, we look forward to conducting more projects like this in the future,” he added.
