“We might have lost every bit of what we have invested in our lives, but we should never lose any strand of hope.”
The Department of Public Works and Highways – Samar First District Engineering Office conducted an outreach program last January 15, 2019 in Brgy. Sigo, Oquendo District, Calbayog City.
The barangay was greatly affected by typhoon Usman last December 29, 2018. Most of its residents are farmers mainly relying on their agricultural produce for their food and income. “We lost so much during the typhoon. The flood reached the roof of our houses, it washed away all of our crops and animals,” said Mr. Peter Tarrayo, the punong barangay of Sigo.
DPWH employees contributed basic food necessities such as rice and canned goods. Engr. Angeles Villaseñor, assistant section chief of the Quality Assurance Section, spearheaded the outreach activity, distributing more than 150 relief bags to the affected families.
“On behalf of our entire barangay, we would like to thank DPWH for this simple act of generosity extended to our community,” added Mr. Tarrayo.
