Department of Public Works and Highways Batanes District Engineer Rommel Fabi reported to Regional Director Melanio C. Briosos the repair/reconstruction projects of 7 typhoon Ferdie damaged structures in the Island Province amounting to a total of P15.7Million.
Construction works are already expected to jumpstart this April 2017 after the completion of the procurement process.
The allocation sourced from General Appropriation Act and Calamity fund and will be used for the construction and rehabilitation of flood control structures and seawalls in Basco, Mahatao, Ivana, Imnajbu and Charatangan-Taytay-Padanagan in Batanes, prioritizing areas previously hit by typhoons and vulnerable to flooding.
The province of Batanes was battered by Typhoon Ferdie September last year.
RD Briosos said that calamity funds will be utilized to immediately respond to the restoration needs of some facilities that were greatly affected by the typhoon and to enable quick response and service delivery to the affected families.
