Napo, Lanao del Norte collapsed when hit at about 8:30 p.m. by rampaging flood waters last January 13, 2014. DPWH Region 10 Director Evelyn Barroso ordered the immediate construction of temporary bridge using bailey panels which started yesterday and will be completed within seven (7) days. The bridge which is targeted to be opened to traffic on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 will be opened for light vehicles only.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will partner with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the University of the Philippines (UP) Training Center for Applied Geodesy and Photogrammetry in its infrastructure planning for roads, bridges and flood control projects.

DPWH Region 11 Director Mariano L. Alquiza said that a total of nine (9) bridges were affected in Southern Mindanao (Davao Region) with six (6) of them not passable as strong current of floodwater damaged bridge structure.
Eight of the affected bridges are located in Davao Oriental, seven (7) of which are located at Surigao Sur-Davao Coastal Road and one (1) in Tibanban-Lavigan Road.

The Department of Public Works and Highways-Caraga (DPWH-13 has reported landslides, road slips, and floods in different parts of the region particularly along the national highways, which were rendered temporarily closed to public traffic.
Responding to the observation of some international observers, the Department Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will adjust the sizes of the temporary shelters or bunkhouses to conform to acceptable international standards.
“Bunkhouses or temporary shelters were requested by the DSWD and the LGUs and the sites were likewise identified by LGUs,” said DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson.
