DPWH Re-Opens Bridge in Lanao del Norte

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has restored connectivity to coastal villages of Lanao del Norte as it opens today (January 27, 2014) the constructed Larapan temporary steel bridge, two (2) weeks after it was damaged by flashfloods caused by a low pressure area.

In her report to DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, DPWH Northern Mindanao Regional Director Evelyn Barroso said that the Larapan detour bridge along Linamon-Zamboanga Road in Barangay Napo, Lanao Del Norte was opened this morning to vehicles not exceeding 20 tons.

DPWH Resumes EDSA Re-Blocking Activities

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) National Capital Region Director (NCR) Reynaldo Tagudando have alerted all concerned District Engineering Offices (DEOs) to effect the latest authority received by the DPWH from the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to resume with its concrete re-blocking and road repair activities - covering five (5) road sections in Mandaluyong, Quezon and Caloocan City, from 10pm of January 24, 2014 (Friday) until 5:00am of January 27, 2014 (Monday).

DPWH Sends Equipment and Personnel on Roads Affected by L.P.A. & "Agaton"

Technical personnel of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Region 8 are now undertaking survey works for the rehabilitation plan at the landslide affected section of Daang Maharlika in Southern Leyte.

DPWH Region 8 reported that vehicular traffic flow are presently diverted at Tacloban-Baybay South Road-Maasin Route and Bato-Bontoc Road following the occurrence of major landslides and road cut at the Boundary Mahaplag-Sogod-Libagon-Liloan Road of the Daang Maharlika because of heavy rains due to low pressure area (LPA) and Typhoon “Agaton”.

DPWH-2 Gears up for 2014

The Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office 02 headed by Director Melvin B. Navaro led the 1st Regional Staff Conference last January 16, 2014 held at the DPWH R02 onference hall.

U.S. Ambassador Visits DPWH

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio L. Singson warmly receives U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg during a courtesy visit at the DPWH Central Office. Goldberg echoed the position of the United States of America to assist Philippine government in its program to build disaster resilient community under the long term rehabilitation plan as Secretary Singson expressed appreciation to the American people for immediately assisting areas devastated by Typhoon “Yolanda” in Eastern Visayas.

Larapan Bridge connecting Kauswagan and Linamon towns in Lanao del Norte has not been restored yet making it impassable until today (January 16, 2014). The Larapan Bridge at Brgy. Napo, Lanao del Norte collapsed when hit at about 8:30 p.m. by rampaging flood waters last January 13, 2014. DPWH Region 10 Director Evelyn Barroso ordered the immediate construction of temporary bridge using bailey panels which started yesterday and will be completed within seven (7) days. The bridge which is targeted to be opened to traffic on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 will be opened for light vehicles only.
