P260 million Tawi Bridge to boost tourism and safety in Cagayan
Department of Public Works and Highways Cagayan Valley Regional Director Melanio C. Briosos announced that construction works already started for the P260 Million Tawi bridge project in Peñablanca, Cagayan.
The DPWH Regional Office 02 has finally given the go-ahead for the bridge construction after a long wait of more than 30 years for the residents who live in the area.
With the DPWH coming to the aid of the people through its recent successful partnership with the Department of Tourism and Local leaders, the long awaited replacement for Tawi bridge is already in progress.
Road widening continues in Cagayan
Better roads are underway in the first legislative district of Cagayan with the anticipated completion of various improvement and road widening projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
District Engineer Rosauro R. Guerrero of DPWH Cagayan First District Engineering Office (DPWH-CFDEO) said locals and tourists heading to the northern towns of Cagayan will benefit from two (2) road widening projects in the municipality of Lal-lo and Aparri that are almost complete.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is still clearing a total of 18 road sections closed due to road collapse, damaged slope protection, debris and mud flow, and flooding in Regions I and III, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to complete this October a flood control structure that will protect the villages near Imbang River in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
District Engineer Jaime SJ Javellana of DPWH Negros Occidental First District Engineering Office said P83.9 million river walls are being constructed on both sides of the 1.2-kilometer portion of Imbang River to mitigate river overflow and flooding during rainy season.
