Villar Inspects Typhoon-Ravaged Albay; Announces 4 Remaining Closed Roads In Cam Sur, Catanduanes

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said that to date, only four (4) national roads in Bicol Region remain closed to traffic due to collapsed road slope protection, fallen trees and electrical posts brought about by Super Typhoon Rolly.

Secretary Villar who flew Wednesday, November 4, 2020, to check the situation Albay said that all national roads in the province has already been cleared by the deployed DPWH teams with equipment and only one (1) road in Camarines Sur remains impassable, three (3) in Catanduanes.

Rolly’s damage to public infra now at P5.76-B

As of Tuesday, November 3, 2020, Super Typhoon Rolly’s estimated cost of damage to roads, bridges, flood-control structures, and public buildings has reached P5.756 Billion.

This was announced by Public Works and Highway Secretary Mark A. Villar, citing the P1.515 Billion damage to roads, P458.2 Million damage to bridges, P2.036 Billion damage to flood-control structures, P367.25 Million damage to public buildings, and P1.379 Billion other infrastructure.

DPWH Readies for Super Typhoon “Rolly”

Disaster Response Operation Teams of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are now deployed in identified critical sections along national roads in preparation of Super Typhoon “Rolly”.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that DPWH has already mobilized the necessary equipment and manpower resources in potential risk areas particularly in Luzon that maybe affected by the most strongest typhoon to enter the Philippine land in 2020.

DPWH Preparing For Siony; Clearing 14 Road Sections Due To Rolly, 9 Due To Quinta And Pepito

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar on Monday, November 2, 2020 said that the DPWH quick response teams are now preparing for Typhoon Siony while simultaneously clearings roads that are still closed due to recent typhoons.

“Our maintenance crew with equipment, including those that are still clearing roads due to typhoons Rolly, Quinta and Pepito, are now preparing for the incoming typhoon Siony. These teams are also trimming trees along national roads to minimize fallen debris during typhoons and expedite road opening,” said Secretary Villar.

Flood control project in Marikina substantially completed

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is on the final stages of construction of flood control structures along Nangka River at Barangay Fortune, Marikina City to ensure the safety of nearby residents and their properties.

Since the stretch of Nangka River traverses a number of communities living in San Mateo, Rizal and Marikina, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar assured the public that the department is implementing more flood mitigation projects along the river to ensure the protection of residents affected during strong typhoons.

Villar inaugurated on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 the Ciudad de Victoria Interchange Overpass Bridge and Bypass Road in Bocaue, Bulacan, which will be used by the delegates as the main route going to the 55,000-seater indoor stadium.

Villar opens APEC road and bridge at connecting Los Baños and Bae

Students and residents in Laguna can now traverse an alternative access going to the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) Campus with the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) opening of a newly concrete paved highway connecting Pili Drive, Institute of Plant Breeding (IPB) Road to Gov. F.T. San Luis Road.

“Spanning about 3.8 kilometers, the APEC Road, which started construction during the administration of President Ramos is finally complete and provides a direct access to and from Los Banos and Bae,” Villar noted.
