Tuesday, July 5, 2016

The San Fernando-San Juan By-Pass Road in the Province of La Union is placed under one-way traffic scheme due to the on-going road rehabilitation works.

The Department of Public Works and Highways - La Union First District Engineering Office reported that the San Fernando-San Juan By-Pass Road is passable only to northbound motorists going to other northern towns of La Union and the provinces of Ilocos Sur, Abra, Ilocos Norte and even to Cagayan

Southbound motorists will have to utilize the Manila North Road which is two-way traffic opened or other alternate routes in going to their destinations.

One-way traffic flow for northbound motorists was implemented to ease traffic congestion brought about by road lane closure due to the fast tracking of construction activities for the rehabilitation of San Fernando-San Juan By-Pass Road specifically between KM270+000 to KM274+800.

The DPWH La Union First District Engineering Office has informed through letters to LGUs and posted advisories inside the bus terminals and other affected transport companies, and other government agencies before the traffic changes of one-way scheme was implemented.

LGUs and police authorities have been also requested to provide traffic management assistance.

To date, the P32 Million road rehabilitation project which involves reblocking of concrete carriageway, paving of shoulder, and construction of drainage canal is 61 percent completed.

Repair and rehabilitation of the by-pass road is in line with the DPWH effort of improving the road quality condition.
