The Quezon Industrial Highway Project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will soon be a game-changer for the local economy, improving access between the agri-industrial zones of Lucena City, Quezon Province.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 4A, said that the project’s Package 7 was recently completed covering 1.22 kilometers of road.
Package 7 is located in Barangay Mayao Parada, Lucena City and was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA) with a contract amount of P93.6 million.
The Quezon Industrial Highway is envisioned to begin at Barangay Dalahican along the Lucena Dalahican Port Road and end at the ongoing Lucena City Government Complex in Barangay Mayao Parada. It will also intersect the Lucena Diversion Talao-Talao Port Road, making it a vital artery that connects the Quezon Industrial Highway and the Quezon Eco-Tourism Road.
“Once fully integrated, this road network stretching 37.64 kilometers will stretch from the boundary of Tiaong and San Antonio, Quezon, linking the Quezon-Batangas Road to Lucena City,” said Secretary Bonoan.
The project aims to provide a more efficient transportation route, especially for travelers and freight cargo bound for the island provinces of MIMAROPA via the Dalahican and Talao-Talao Ports, benefiting both tourism and commerce.
In addition to facilitating smoother transport to these key maritime hubs, the road is expected to ease congestion on several major national roads, including Daang Maharlika, MSR Old Route, Quezon Eco-Tourism Road, and the Lucena-Dalahican Port Road.
The Quezon 2nd District Engineering Office implemented the road project’s Package 7 as part of the Convergence and Special Support Program (SIPAG).
