Farmers and residents of an agricultural community in the Municipality of Mawab, Davao de Oro have been reaping the benefits of a concreted road project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon, in her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and Undersecretary for Mindanao Operations Eugenio R. Pipo Jr., identified Barangay Malinawon in Mawab town as the location of the paved 870-meter farm-to-market road (FMR).

Implemented by the DPWH Davao de Oro First District Engineering Office (DEO), the Barangay Malinawon FMR made of portland concrete cement pavement also has provision for road shoulders and construction of retaining walls.

The improved FMR now allows local farmers of Barangay Malinawon to efficiently transport their agricultural products such as rice, bananas, and coconuts to the market centers in the area, while at the same time providing residents an all-weather road they can use when availing social services in Mawab’s town center.

Completed in the amount of P14.92 million, the concreting of the Barangay Malinawon FMR was funded under the convergence program of DPWH and the Department of Agriculture (DA).
