Three (3) asphalt overlay projects completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) now enhance accessibility for local communities in the municipality of Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.
Based on the report of DPWH Region 6 OIC-Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel, the projects were undertaken along a 690-linear meter portion of the Iloilo City-Leganes-Dumangas Coastal Road, a 1.2-lane kilometer stretch of Iloilo East Coast-Capiz Road traversing Barangay Bungca, and an 800-meter section of Banga Bante-Banga Polot-an-Barotac Nuevo Road in Barangay Tabucan.
Besides asphalt overlay, the projects also incorporate stone masonry, LED solar street lights, and reflectorized pavement markings as safety features.
“The completed projects now facilitate smoother routes for the transportation of agricultural goods and products, providing better accessibility and reduced logistical challenges for farmers and entrepreneurs in the area,” said OIC-Director Oropel.
The asphalt overlay projects were implemented by DPWH Iloilo 2nd District Engineering Office in the amount of P13.4 million, P6.2 million, and P4.4 million, respectively.
