DPWH Improves Access to Tourism Sites in Compostela, Davao de Oro

The newly concrete paved road of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has allowed easier access going to hard to reach tourist spots in Compostela, Davao de Oro.

In her report to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office 11 OIC-Director Juby B. Cordon said that the DPWH Davao de Oro Second District Engineering Office (DEO) has paved a total of 7.92 kilometers of road starting from the existing Barangay Ngan Road to far-flung parts of the mountainous community.

Through the new access road, locals and tourists can now conveniently reach potential tourism attractions in Compostela such as the Bongkilaton Cave, Pansan Falls, Tagbubunlas Falls, and Mandaya Village.

The DPWH Davao de Oro Second DEO also completed the application of reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings and construction of concrete lined canal as well as other minor drainage structures to ensure safety of road users.

Funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the project costing P12.24 million is part of DPWH’s Convergence and Special Support Program (CSSP) with the Department of Tourism (DOT).
