To further enhance agricultural connectivity and improve transportation in Western Visayas, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is undertaking the concrete paving of two (2) farm-to-market roads (FMR) for agri-communities in Malinao, Aklan.
DPWH Region 6 OIC-Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel identified the concreting projects along a 160-lineal-meter road section in Barangay Bulabod and a 924-lineal-meter road portion in Barangay Dangcalan with the provision of 226-lineal meter slope protection, costing P11.8 million and P11.9 million, respectively.
When completed, the FMR projects will provide safer and faster routes for more efficient delivery of agricultural goods to nearby towns, reducing transportation costs and increasing the income of local farmers.
“By constructing these FMRs, we are empowering our local farmers and providing them with the tools they need to thrive in the competitive agricultural landscape,” said OIC-Director Oropel.
Implemented by the DPWH Aklan District Engineering Office, both projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
