The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has undertaken road improvement works along Pavia Diversion Road in Iloilo to ensure smoother and more comfortable travel.
Implemented by the DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office, the project involves the asphalt overlaying of a 984-lineal-meter portion of Pavia Diversion Road from Barangay Cabugao Sur to the town proper.
The upgraded diversion road now facilitates safer and faster travel from Iloilo City to Iloilo International Airport, which will encourage more visitors to come to the city and various tourist destinations in the province.
According to DPWH Regional Office 6 OIC-Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel, improvement is necessary and timely, considering the volume of vehicles plying Iloilo Diversion Road.
Costing P15.59 million, the asphalt overlay project also includes reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings and the installation of warning signs as safety features.
