Far-flung communities in the Municipality of Talaingod, Davao del Norte are the beneficiaries of a newly-constructed access road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, based on a report by DPWH Regional Office 11 OIC-Director Judy B. Cordon, said that the DPWH Davao del Norte District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the construction of an access road linking Sitio Nasilaban to Balay Lupowanan in Barangay Palma Gil.

The 1.3-kilometer, two (2)-lane concrete road has significantly improved mobility in Barangay Palma Gil, where a number of the indigenous peoples (IP) from the Ata-Manobo Tribe settles.

With the access road, locals who heavily rely on the virgin forest of the mountainous town for their livelihood now have a more convenient route to transport their agricultural products.

The access road also connects the communities in Barangay Palma Gil to Talaingod’s town center by facilitating faster and better access to government, health, and social services.

Constructed in the amount of P49 million taken from the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA), the access road in Barangay Palma Gil was part of DPWH’s Sustainable Infrastructure Project Alleviating Gaps (SIPAG) Program.
