7 Roads Still Closed Due to ‘Goring’

As of 12:00 noon Wednesday, August 30, 2023, seven (7) national road sections remain impassable due to Typhoon ‘Goring’ which caused flooding, landslide, slope collapse, road cut, and damage to bridge in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley Region and Western Visayas.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was able to clear and reopen 11 affected roads but still working on the following closed road sections:

CAR
1.Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road in Brgy. Ferdinand, Calanasan (Bayag), Apayao due to landslide;
2.Kennon Road in Camp One, Tuba, Benguet as precautionary measure;
3.Dantay Sagada Road, Brgy. Antadao, Sagada, Mt.Province due to roadcut/collapsed pavement;
4.Baguio-Bontoc Road, Brgy. Sinto, Bauko, Mt.Province due to roadcut/collapsed pavement, rock/slope collapse;

Region 1
1.Roxas Bridge, Vigan-San Vicente Road, Ilocos Sur due to scoured bridge abutment;

Region 2
1.Gadu-Carilucud Nabbotuan-Palao-Macutay Road, Carilucud Detour Bridge, Solana, Cagayan due to washed out detour road; and

Region 6
1.Iloilo-Antique Road, Brgy. Igbucagay, Hamtic, Antique due to road depression/sinking.

Several roads with limited access were also identified in CAR, Regions 1, and 4A as the following:

1.Jct Talubin-Barlig-Natonin-Paracelis-Calaccad Road in Bry. Sta. Isabel, Natonin, Mt.Province, one lane passable to light vehicles only due to soil collapse;
2.Vigan Bridge 1 and 2 along Bantay-Vigan Road in Brgy. 1, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, one lane passable to light vehicles only due to damaged abutment protection and bridge approach;
3.Pias - Currimao - Balaccad Road K0470+(-050) - K0470+050, Ilocos Norte passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding;
4.Batac - Espiritu (Banna) Road, K0471+100, Ilocos Norte passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding;
5.Laoag-Sarrat-Piddig-Solsona Road, K0513+350 - K0513+700, Ilocos Norte passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding;
6.Pinili - Nueva Era Road, K0461+150, Ilocos Norte passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding; and
7.Nasugbu-Lian-Calatagan Road, Brgy. Putting Kahoy, Lian, Batangas, one lane passable to light vehicles only due to scoured shoulder and roadcut.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan has instructed concerned Regional and District Engineering Offices to expedite measures and clearing operations for the immediate reopening of typhoon-affected road sections.
