A 1.31-kilometer seawall that will act as a flood-control structure in Barangay Batobato, San Isidro, Davao Oriental was recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

DPWH Davao Oriental 2nd District Engineer Jane D. Cainghog reported the completion of the project which now serves as the community’s first line of defense against flooding brought on by storm-generated waves and seawater rise, as well as other adverse weather circumstances.

“With the new seawall, we are preventing coastal erosion while protecting the homes and livelihood of this densely inhabited area,” said District Engineer Cainghog.

Started in February 2022, the flood-control structure project in Barangay Batobato was implemented in the amount of P62.7 million.
