Motorists traversing the La Paz-Javier-Bito Road in La Paz, Leyte are now benefitting from the newly-asphalted road section implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as part of the agency’s asset preservation program.
According to DPWH Region 8 Director Edgar B. Tabacon, the road improvement project covering a total length of 785 meters involves reblocking of intermittent road sections, asphalt overlay, and the installation of thermoplastic pavement markings to improve travel safety and reduce traffic accidents.
“The implementation of preventive maintenance projects helps prolong the service life of roads by minimizing premature deterioration of pavement brought by the passage of heavy vehicles,” said Director Tabacon.
Funded under the 2022 General Appropriation Act (GAA), the project will help to improve vehicular traffic flow along the La Paz-Javier-Bito Road stretch.
