To ensure seamless travel and accessibility, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently working on the rehabilitation and upgrading of Daang Maharlika, along a road section in the municipality of MacArthur, Leyte.

Based on a report from Region 8 Director Allan S. Borromeo, DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado said that the rehabilitation of road covering 1.129-kilometers from Barangay Maya and ends at Barangay Pongon will be completed in the amount of P38.41-million.

“This project covers a re-blocking of 1,792 square meters of portland cement concrete pavement to remove and replace portions which suffered damage due to heavy vehicles plying along the high-traffic road of Daang Maharlika,” said Director Borromeo.

Also included in the rehabilitation project is the use of emulsified asphalt with thermoplastic paint and reflectorized yellow and white pavement markings, making it easier for motorists to clearly identify different road markings and enjoy a smooth and safer travel experience.
