DPWH Groundbreaks Various Infra Projects in Southern Iloilo

The ground-breaking ceremony of various infrastructure projects in the southern part of Iloilo province was conducted by the Department of Public Works and Highways, Iloilo First District Engineering Office.

The groundbreaking was spearheaded by District Engineer Cecil C. Caligan, along with local chief executives of municipalities where certain project is to be implemented.

One of the projects that underwent groundbreaking was the Rehabilitation/Reconstruction/Upgrading of Guimbal-Igbaras-Tubungan-Leon Road, K0033+680 to K0057+505, with exception. The project, with the amount of P113.300 Million will involve construction and concreting of 5.910 kilometers, with the width of 6.70 meters and thickness of 280 millimeters. The project also includes construction of drainage and protection works.

Another project which to be implemented is the Rehabilitation/Reconstruction/Upgrading of Guimbal-Tubungan Road.

The project involves Rehabilitation/Reconstruction of Guimbal-Tubungan Road, K0031+830 to K0039+476, with exceptions, with the length of 1.221 kilometers and project cost of P30.464 Million and Reconstruction/Upgrading of Guimbal-Tubungan Road, K0039+476 to K0040+166 with the length of 660 lineal meters and project cost of P13.247 Million.

In addition, the District will be implementing the Rehabilitation/Reconstruction/Upgrading of Guimbal-Igbaras-Tubungan-Leon Road, K0033+680 to K0057+506, with exceptions in the amount of P113.300 Million and length of 5.991 kilometers.

Also, the District has conducted the ground-breaking of the Widening of Iloilo-Antique Road, K0009+(-937) to K0011+290, with exceptions. The project will include concrete paving of 1.300 kilometers national road with the width of 300 millimeters, construction of shoulders, drainage and sidewalk.

Meanwhile, the District conducted Pre-Conference for the said projects, which was attended by local officials of towns as well as stakeholders in areas where projects are to be implemented.

During the pre-conference, District Engineer Cecil C. Caligan briefed the audience on the duration of the project, what contractor will implement and the economic and social impacts of the project.

Pre-conference is conducted before the actual implementation of the project to disseminate information and awareness among stakeholders.
