Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced the completion of tourism access road leading to Anas View deck in Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte.
Secretary Villar said that the then-dusty and bumpy road has been rehabilitated into a two-lane concrete tourism road providing easy access for locals and nature-loving tourists.
According to DPWH Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno, the P22.6-million access road provides tourists with scenic views of the historic island of Limasawa, Sogod Bay to the East, and Bohol Sea to the west.
“With this tourism road, we can see a high potential in drawing more tourists in the province which would hopefully spur development for communities near these sites,” added Secretary Villar.
The construction of tourism access roads is part of the 0+10-point economic agenda of President Rodrigo Duterte administration aimed at promoting rural and value chain development toward increasing agricultural and rural enterprise productivity and rural tourism.
