The WV BUILDERS NEWS, the official publication of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6 was awarded as Best Agency/LGU Newsletter (second place) for 2016 by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 6.
The said award, which includes certificate of recognition and a trophy was given during the Information Officers’ Year-end Conference and Awards 2016 last December 2 at the Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City.
The newsletter entries of the participating National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Local Government Units (LGUs) in the whole region were critiqued by the external panel of judges commissioned by PIA, as to relevance of content and messages, technical quality, responsiveness to the needs of clients and effective communication support to development, which resulted to the selection of the top 7 entries.
The WV BUILDERS News, is a monthly publication of the Regional Office and handled by the Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) headed by Regional Public Information Officer, Ms. Vivian C. Tan, who is also a recipient of Special Award of Distinction given by PIA in 2015.
Tan said that it is the first time the DPWH sent official entries to the categories of Best Agency/LGU Newsletter and Best Performing Information Office.
“These awards are good enough for a first timer like us, and these would give us more inspiration to more dedicated and diligent in responding to the needs of the stakeholders,” Tan added.
DPWH was also awarded by PIA as honorable mention for the Best Performing Information Office for 2016. The winners of the said category were chosen based on consistency, diligence and committed service to the public through information, education and communication programs, activities and services
