
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar conducted an ocular inspection at the on-going construction of new Aganan Bridge in Maasin, Iloilo.
The construction of a 180 lineal meter bridge along Mandurriao-San Miguel-Alimodian-Maasin-Cabatuan road is being implemented by the DPWH Regional Office 6.
Accompanying the Secretary are OIC- Regional Director Wenceslao M. Leaño Jr., OIC-Assistant Regional Director Jose Al V. Fruto, OIC-Chief of Construction Division Engr. Ormel A. Santos, District Engineer Edmund V. Opinion, District Engineer Rodney A. Gustilo and representatives from the contractor.
The first phase of the bridge project started April 2016, with the appropriation of P61.8 Million from the FY 2016 General Appropriations Act (GAA), under contract with IBC International Builders Corporation in the amount of P59.49 Million.
Aganan Bridge Project involves construction of 2-lanes, 6-spans at 30m PSCG AASHTO Type IVB Bridge on bored pile foundation, 3-spans complete continuous superstructures with sidewalk and railings, fabrication of additional 3-30m PSCG for span 4 and complete substructures consisting of 2-pier abutments and 5 piers both with 2 columns on bored pile foundation with abutment and scour protection.
The second phase of the project for implementation in FY 2017 covers the completion of 3-spans superstructures with sidewalk and railings as well as construction of bridge approaches including slope protection.
