The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), recently held a research symposium at “Ang Bahay ng Alumni,” University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, in response to the rapid infrastructure development with the eventual unfolding of the government’s ambitious infrastructure thrust known as the “Build, Build, Build.”
Twelve (12) research studies were presented during the 4th Research Symposium, which was organized by the DPWH Bureau of Research and Standard (BRS) and participated by engineers, researchers, and scholars of different government agencies, academe, and private sectors.
With the theme “Rapid Construction Methods 2”, the researches focused on cutting edge technology and innovative processes that may hasten the construction projects under “Build, Build, Build” program.
The presentation includes researches from Construction Industry Authority of the Philippines; Prefabricated Post-Tensioned Structures; Holcim Philippines Inc.; Philippine Geo-Analytics, Inc.; The Takigami Steel Construction Co. Ltd MRO; R.A. Kelman Inc.; University of the East-Manila; Shell Bitumen Philippines; University of the Philippines – Diliman; Siccion Marketing, Inc.; DPWH Bureau of Research and Standards; and Technological Institute of the Philippines.
In his welcome remarks, DPWH BRS Director Reynaldo G. Tagundanao, said that the symposium aims to seek for ideas on how to improve and maintain quality and standards of government infrastructure projects.
On his part, DPWH BRS Assistant Director Reynaldo P. Faustino, in his closing statement, expressed his gratitude to all the participants and sponsors of the event as he rallied upon them to continue support the next 5th Research Symposium in 2019.
The symposium provides knowledge enriching experience to some 267 attendees as the exhibitors displayed uptrend and globally renowned tools and construction equipment that are barely known to the many.
